A great pair of jet earrings which have been carved with classical ladies heads on them and ornate surrounding.
They are large and impressive and were made circa 1880 in England Whitby.

In Victorian times jet was at the peak of its popularity in the mid-19th century when it was favoured for mourning jewellery by Queen Victoria after the death of Prince Albert.
